Hello and welcome back to another late Mock Draft Monday! In today’s NFL mock, we will be projecting all 31 picks of the 1st round (without trades). Let me know what you think of each selection in the comments section below!
1) Carolina Panthers (from Chicago): CJ Stroud (QB)
Stroud is the best passer in this year's draft class and will fit well into the Panthers offense.
2) Houston Texans: Bryce Young (QB)
With Stroud off the board, the Texans take the next best option in stud QB Bryce Young who has been frequently connected to the Texans throughout the pre-draft process.
3) Arizona Cardinals: Will Anderson Jr. (Edge)
JJ Watt retired and the Cardinals lost a ton of free agents on the defensive side of the ball. With a defensive minded head coach, the Cardinals opt to take a stud edge rusher.
4) Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Richardson (QB)
The Colts have had a revolving door at QB ever since Andrew Luck left and Shane Steichen will love having a raw Jalen Hurts-esque QB.
5) Seattle Seahawks (from Denver): Jalen Carter (DT)
A lot of mocks have Carter falling due to off the field concerns, however I believe that the Seahawks organization has enough respect and discipline in order to turn him into a superstar
6) Detroit Lions (from L.A. Rams): Tyree Wilson (Edge)
The Lions addressed their secondary in free agency through the additions of former Steelers CB Cam Sutton and former Eagles safety CJ-Gardner Johnson. Here they look to upgrade a lackluster pass rush through the edition of a superstar edge rusher.
7) Las Vegas Raiders: Will Levis (QB)
The signing of Jimmy G allows for the Raiders to draft Levis and sit him on the bench for a couple of years in order to develop into a superstar.
8) Atlanta Falcons: Christian Gonzalez (CB)
The Falcons were dead last in 3rd down defense in 2022. Here they grab one of the athletic prospects in the draft. Pairing Gonzalez with star CB AJ Terrell will give offenses problems for years to come.
9) Chicago Bears (from Carolina): Peter Skoronski (OT)
The Bears added a ton of talent to their offense and it is paramount that they continue to do so. Here they select the best offensive line prospect in the draft to protect Justin fields.
10) Philadelphia Eagles (from New Orleans): Lukas Van Ness (Edge)
This offseason reinforced the obvious: good talent will get paid. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, that meant losing key starters on both sides of the ball. The selection of Van Ness will help replace aging talent on the defensive line.
11) Tennessee Titans: Jaxon Smith-Nijigba (WR)
The Titans offense was terrible in 2022. Regardless of who will be under center next year, the Titans must make it a priority to add weapons on the offensive side of the ball. JSN is an electric slot receiver who will fit well into the Titans offense.
12) Houston Texans (from Cleveland): Jordan Addison (WR)
Adding talent to the offense is paramount to help Young’s development. The Bryce Young to Jordan Addison combination could be dangerous for years to come.
13) New York Jets: Myles Murphy (Edge)
The Jets will have a number of aging free agents on their defense following the 2023 season - they need to get younger. Murphy is an athletic edge rusher who has the potential to become a star alongside former first round picks Jermaine Johnson and Quinnen Williams.
14) New England Patriots: Quenton Johnson (WR)
The Patriots offense was bad in 2023 and is in desperate need of fresh talent. Johnson is a 6 foot 4 monster who has potential to turn into an outstanding X receiver - Mac Jones will be elated.
15) Green Bay Packers: Dalton Kincaid (TE)
The Packers have had receiving issues for a long time and with the loss of Robert Tonyan in free agency, Kincaid to the Packers makes a lot of sense here.
16) Washington Commanders: Michael Mayer (TE)
The Commanders offense needs more firepower to support whomever is under center in 2023. With Kincaid off the board, the Commanders take the next best tight end prospect in Michael Mayer.
17) Pittsburgh Steelers: Paris Johnson (OT)
The Steelers offensive line in 2022 was terrible to say the least. Here they take Paris Johnson to improve both their pass protection for Kenny Pickett and their run blocking for star running back Najee Harris.
18) Detroit Lions: Calijah Kancey (DT)
Kancey is able to both rush the passer and stop the run and will create a scary duo with the Lion’s earlier pick Tyree Wilson. The addition of both prospects will solidify the Lions defense for years to come.
19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Hendon Hooker (QB)
With TB12 gone the Bucs have major questions at the QB position. The signing of Baker Mayfield indicates that he will serve as a bridge QB until Hooker is ready to take over.
20) Seattle Seahawks: Devon Witherspoon (CB)
It’s an absolute miracle that Witherspoon has fallen this far and Seattle jumps on the opportunity to steal him. Pairing him with DROY finalist Tariq Woolen brings back memories of the Legion of Boom.
21) Los Angeles Chargers: Drew Sanders (LB)
The Chargers defense was still bad despite significant additions in the 2022 offseason. With good pass rushers and corners, they elect to take Drew Sanders who can be an immediate starter for Brandon Staley’s defense.
22) Baltimore Ravens: Zay Flowers (WR)
In this mock, the Ravens elect not to trade Lamar Jackson. In that case, it is paramount that they address the receiving core.
23) Minnesota Vikings: Joey Porter Jr (Corner)
Vikings defense was terrible in 2022 and despite adding CB Byron Murphy, they still need significant help in the secondary.
24) Jacksonville Jaguars: Deonte Banks (CB)
In the offseason, the Jags cut Shaquill Griffin and thus have a need at corner. Deonte Banks is a boundary corner with outstanding length and size.
25) New York Giants: O’Cyrus Torrence (OG)
All the offseason moves indicate that the Giants will either take a corner or offensive linemen in the NFL draft. With many of the top corners off the board, the Giants elect to take O’Cyrus Torrence who fills an immediate need in the interior of their offensive line.
26) Dallas Cowboys: Bijan Robinson (RB)
With Pollard coming off a season-ending leg injury and playing under the franchise tag, the Cowboys elect to take probably the best player in the draft. Pairing Robinson with Pollard for the 2023 season is a scary thought for any defense.
27) Buffalo Bills: Jahmyr Gibbs (RB)
Too early for Gibbs? - I don’t think so, the Bills are 1 offensive playmaker away from making the Super Bowl: Gibbs is that playmaker.
28) Cincinnati Bengals: Darnell Wright (OT)
Jonah Jackson requested a trade, taking Darnell Wright ensures that the Bengals don’t lose significant talent on their offensive line.
29) New Orleans Saints (from San Francisco through Miami and Denver): BJ Ojulari (EDGE)
The Saints lost former first round pick Marcus Davenport in free agency to the Vikings and look to fill the hole through the addition of edge rusher BJ Ojulari. Him and Cam Jordan will combine to form a scary pash rush duo.
30) Philadelphia Eagles: Cam Smith (CB)
The Eagles have elite corners, but they are both aging. Fresh young talent in the secondary is a must for the future.
31) Kansas City Chiefs: Felix Anudike-Uzomah (EDGE)
The Chiefs don’t have many needs with the exception of their defensive line. With the departure of Frank Clark in free agency, they grab Anudike-Uzomah to improve their pass-rush.
Loved your analysis.. keep doing more.
I think Gibbs will not be the right move for Bills… I will comment more in detail soon.
I like the Giants and Gibbs pick. The Bijan Robinson pick is interesting but would be bad for the Giants.
